Turquesa cactus silk pillow

Fabulous and very soft pillow handmade from cactus silk in Morocco. Sometimes called Vegetable or Sabra Silk, it is a luxurious fabric made from the Saharan Aloe Vera Cactus. The process for making Sabra Silk has been the same for centuries. The spiky leaves from the cactus are crushed and soaked in water to separate the fibers and then they are washed, dried and spun to make the silk threads. To keep the fabric as natural as possible, the threads are only dyed with natural vegetable dyes such as saffron, indigo or henna.
